Registration is open for Business Day 2010 at AREA

19.07.2010 -

The figures from last year's Business Day speak for themselves, and 29th October also promises to be entirely dedicated to results, technology and products from leading cutting edge businesses at AREA Science Park: last year 190 companies and organisations from Italy and other countries took part; more than 700 one-to-one business meetings were held and 47 meetings and visits by institutional delegates interested in the AREA Science Park system took place.

The event resulted in at least thirty joint collaborations and projects, the true added value of the Day, that is both a technology showcase and a business partnership opportunity, aiming at promoting the expertise and know-how that AREA produces and boosting the development of new business ideas. The creation of start-ups is also a goal of Business Day, thanks to the participation of organizations like IBAN, the Italian Business Angel association, which gathers informal venture investors in risk capital operations. Meetings and events to identify opportunities and financing for new cutting-edge companies are being organized.

Participants will also be able to get to know the work and potential of the "first mile incubator" at AREA Science Park, Innovation Factory, at the service of researchers and new entrepreneurs with new business ideas. The 2010 appointment will span multiple sectors as it has in the past, ranging from life sciences to electronics, ICT and the environment, presenting a group of companies, some of which are start-up companies, who will present their innovative technology in the field of energy production and saving.

Even the location is new and "technological": a brand-new building, a state-of-the-art biology and chemistry centre, located on the Basovizza campus of AREA Science Park, whose generous spaces will be "on loan" to the Business Day before the future resident biotechnology companies even move in. Another novelty of this appointment is the chance to set up meetings with directors and technological staff from Technological Transfer, Education, and Science Park Management to find out more about the services provided by AREA.

Organisation for Business Day 2010 is fully underway: if you are interested in the event, free online registration begun on 15 July at http://www.area.trieste.it/opencms/opencms/area/en/BDay_en/index.html
