The European Researchers' night is on 24 September, from 3 pm to
11 pm.On September 24, Trieste will come alive up with "The
Researchers' Night 2010", STAR-Science in Trieste And
Researchers.
The initiative, promoted by the European Commission as part of
the Researchers in Europe programme will offer a rich calendar of
novelties. In the capital of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, city
of scientific excellence, the event will be hosted from 3 pm to 11
pm against the charming backdrop of the piazza dell'Unità d'Italia
and the vicinity.
The long night of researchers will be the perfect occasion to
meet the leaders from the world of research in Trieste and to share
plenty of fun: more than 150 researchers will gather in the Piazza
to talk about their work and their lives in and out of the
laboratory, propose points of consideration and interesting topics
of discussion or simply take part in a table football match.
With the Aspettando la notte initiative, new for 2010, school
children will get involved from the morning hours in a series of
initiatives based on a mixture of science and fun. Starting at 3
pm, experiments, laboratories, excursions, games, shows and
entertainment will bring the general public nearer to the world of
research and science with events continuing until 11 pm. At 4.45,
representatives from Bodies and Institutions participating at the
event will be in the Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia to take part in the
celebrations alongside the general public and officially begin the
night.
