20.05.2011 -
On 23rd May, a day dedicated to European policies for
research and researchers, EURAXESS Italy (www.euraxess.it), the new
portal for the mobility of researchers, will be presented at the
Ministry for Education, University and Research (MIUR - Ministero
dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca).
EURAXESS is a tool that provides foreign researchers with all
the necessary information to come and pursue their research
activities in Italy. This includes information on entry visas where
required, the Italian education system, the social security and
welfare system, the tax system, housing options, etc. Mobile
researchers looking to relocate to Italy can take advantage of a
direct link to 7 Service Centres and 8 Local Contact Points.
In the same way, Italian researchers planning a period of
research activity abroad can, by means of the portal, gain access
to the entire European network of EURAXESS Service Centres
(http://ec.europa.eu/euraxess/), where they will find 35 sites
sharing the same design and structure, that are easy to navigate
and full of useful information.
EURAXESS is an initiative promoted by the European Commission,
as dynamic as its users and continually expanding. More than 5,000
research organisations (both public and private) have registered on
the EURAXESS portal in order to publish their job offers and
funding opportunities.
About 18,000 researchers have published their CVs online.
Collaborations have been established for exchanging job offers with
other recruitment and job search portals, such as Naturejobs. In
addition, an average of 4,000 research job opportunities are
available daily on the EURAXESS Jobs Portal. This information is
shared with national EURAXESS portals, including EURAXESS
Italy.
As well as representing a practical opportunity to build up the
European Research Area, EURAXESS provides Italian universities and
research bodies with a tool for implementing the recently issued
Italian Law 240/2010. In Article 18, paragraph 1a); Article 22,
paragraph 1; and Article 24, paragraph 2a), the law in fact
requires that announcements for fixed-term positions for professors
or researchers must be advertised internationally.
All the services offered by the EURAXESS portal, both at a
European and a national level, are totally free of charge. EURAXESS
Italy is promoted by the CRUI Foundation in collaboration with AREA
Science Park and the University of Camerino.
