The Road Show visiting a number of Italian science and
technology parks made a stop today at AREA Science Park. Its aim is
to introduce potential United States investors to national
companies and centres active in the field of biotechnology applied
to health, the so-called 'red biotech'.
The initiative, sponsored by the Ministry of Economic
Development within the context of the special 'Made in Italy'
Promotion Initiative for the United States and organised by the
Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE - Istituto nazionale per
il Commercio Estero), aims to encourage partnerships, the various
forms of scientific and technological collaboration and an improved
flow of information on Italian excellence in this sector.
Six venture capitalists from the United States responsible for
the investment decisions of American companies and development
centres within the biotechnology field, accompanied by Paola
Bellusci of ICE, met a panel of AREA companies and centres,
introduced by the Managing Director of AREA, Enzo Moi.
The organisations from the Science Park that participated in the
meeting were: CBM, Adriacell SpA,
TBS Group, TECNA Srl, Euroclone SpA and Centro Studi Fegato (CSF).
Michela Cattaruzza, vice-president of Confindustria Trieste, also
participated in the day's meetings.
The Road Show, which ends on 17th June with a visit
to the Parco Tecnologico Padano, a science and technology park
based in Lodi, aims to encourage various forms of foreign
investment in the Italian biotech sector, represented in the
network of Italian Science and Technology Parks.
